The History of Glenwood Telephone Company

THE AREA

Glenwood Telephone Company is the smallest self-contained independent telephone company in Georgia. It

operates along the bluff side of the beautiful Oconee River for some twenty miles. The local economy is based mostly on timber and

farming.

The area is currently working to improve our community's appearance through the Alamo-Glenwood Better Hometown Development

Program. We also run a free public Internet access point, and wifi zone hotspot located in the Adams Center of Technology. The free

public Internet access point was founded through the Community Connectivity Broadband Grant Program in co-ordination with the

United States Deapartment of Agriculture / Rural Utilities Service Division in 2004. Even after the grant project funding expired in 2006

Glenwood Telephone Company continues to offer this free Internet access point and wifi zone hotspot to the community, as we believe

this is an invaluable service for the area. Glenwood Telephone Company has a genuine interest in the area it serves and is a responsible

corporate citizen. It is with pride and commitment that we boast of being "the best little telephone company and Internet Service Provider

in Georgia."
